What's moving before the open, and why.
Every trading morning: the Nasdaq names gapping with real participation, each carrying its catalyst, source and float, plus the names we cut and why, yesterday's board graded dud-by-dud, and what moved after hours. Free, no account, no card.
Until the founding cohort opens, this board shows the same frozen illustrative session as every mockup on this site: real shapes, not live prices. The live board, produced by the same pipeline each trading morning, ships with the cohort. Leave an email below and it arrives the first morning it exists.
Ranked by the published filter: gap × participation × float band × catalyst freshness, not by our opinion of the names. Nothing on this board is a recommendation; two rows can be a long setup and a short setup on the same morning.
What didn't make it, and why.
Any list looks smart if you only see what made it. These gapped too, and were cut for reasons that repeat every single week. Learn the four reasons and you have most of the filter.
Catalyst is a re-issued PR from March with a new headline. Freshness check failed; recycled news gaps fade in our episode set far more often than they run.
RVOL 2.1 against its own 04:00 to 08:45 window, busy for a Tuesday, normal for this name. A gap without participation is a quote, not a move.
180M float, $60B market cap. Real move, wrong instrument for this board. It cannot rotate its float, and momentum here is a different discipline.
Active ATM on file and 1.4 months of cash at the current burn. Gappers with a live ATM sell into their own move; the structure is the story.
How yesterday's board resolved.
Every name we published for 2026-08-18, graded: session high with its time, the close, the halts. The duds stay in the table; a recap that only remembers winners is an ad.
Three of five traded at least 1.3× their shown gap at some point in the session; two closed below the open. The board finds loaded structure. It has never once found the exit for you, and it never will.
Since the close.
The 16:00 to 20:00 session is where overnight gappers are born: earnings, data drops, and the offerings that become tomorrow's gap-downs. Both directions listed, because both are setups.
Q2 revenue beats; full-year guidance raised
Company PR·16:12 ET·$6.2M AHStill holding most of the move premarket. Qualifies for today's board only if participation confirms by 8:00. Earnings gaps that hold overnight are a different animal from ones that build premarket.
Phase 1 data selected for ESMO late-breaking abstract
GlobeNewswire·17:30 ET·$1.9M AHThin after-hours book: watch whether volume builds this morning or whether last night was one desk.
$8M registered direct offering priced at a 30% discount
8-K / EDGAR·17:05 ET·$3.8M AHThe other direction matters too: after-hours offerings are tomorrow's gap-downs, and the bounce structure is its own setup.

Every column earns its place.
Each column is here because it changes decisions, and each has a standard way of lying to you. Both are stated.
Gap %
Distance from the prior close, before the open. It is the crowd's opening bid on what the news is worth: the starting line, not the trade.
The trap · A big gap on thin volume is one market maker's opinion. Check it against premarket dollar volume before treating it as consensus.
RVOL (time-of-day)
Volume against the same clock window on the name's own past sessions: 7:00 am volume compared to 7:00 am volume, not to full days. It answers the only question that matters early: is anyone actually here?
The trap · Raw "today vs average day" RVOL reads 0.4 at 8 am for every stock on earth. If a scanner shows premarket RVOL above 1 without a time-of-day adjustment, it is measuring the wrong thing.
Premarket $ volume
Shares times price, premarket only. Dollar volume is what lets you get in and out at size; share volume alone flatters $1 stocks.
The trap · One 400k-share print at 6:03 am is not liquidity. Look for volume that builds across the morning, not a single block.
Float / market cap
The float is the fuel tank. Sub-2M floats halt more, travel further, and reverse harder. The same catalyst does entirely different things at different float bands.
The trap · Float figures go stale the moment a filing changes them. Ours carry the date of the filing they came from; treat any float number without a date as a rumour.
Catalyst + freshness
The headline, who published it, and when. "New" broke since the close; "overnight" had all night to be priced in; "recycled" is old news re-issued, which on this tape is usually a promotion, not a catalyst. And "no catalyst found" is printed when the search came back empty. Price moving first sometimes means the filing is minutes away, and sometimes means a promotion with no filing coming at all.
The trap · The same story reads differently from EDGAR than from a paid wire. An 8-K is a legal filing; a PR is marketing. The source column is not decoration.
Attention
Public-post volume against the name's own 20-day baseline. It tells you whether the crowd has found it yet: early attention with a real catalyst is the setup; late attention is the exit.
The trap · Attention measures loudness, not truth. A +38× spike built on copied wording and invite links is a different object from organic disagreement. Click through to Chatter before trusting it.
Halt state
T1 news pending, T12 exchange inquiry, LUDP volatility pause. On a thin float the reopening print after a halt is often the whole trade, so halts are events here, not gaps in a chart.
The trap · A T12 is not a T1. An exchange asking questions is a different risk profile from a company preparing an announcement. Learn the codes before trading the reopen.
On the calendar
What was already due today: a split effective date, a PDUFA, a compliance deadline, a lockup expiry. A headline lands differently on a name that already had structure scheduled.
The trap · Scheduled events are known to everyone, which is precisely why the reaction, not the event, is the trade. The base-rate table on the calendar board exists for this reason.
Where the numbers come from
Nasdaq consolidated data via our market-data pipeline, EDGAR for filings, and public posts read within each platform's terms for the attention column. Every catalyst carries its publisher and timestamp so you can check the original.
What "delayed" means here
The free board is a snapshot, regenerated through the premarket and stamped with its generation time. It is built for preparation, not execution. Members get the live-updating version with alerts. If a figure is illustrative rather than live, the banner above the table says so in plain text.
What the board is not
Not picks, not signals, not advice. It is the ranked output of a published filter: gap, participation, float band, catalyst freshness, with the rejects and the reasons shown. Two names on the same board can be a long setup and a short setup; which is which is your work, and the course below is where to learn it.
Why we show what we cut
Any list looks smart if you only see what made it. The cut list is where the filter earns trust, and most weeks it is the more educational half: recycled news, time-of-day-normal volume, wrong float band, live ATM.
Yesterday's board is graded in public
Every name we published yesterday comes back today with its session high, its close and its halts, including the ones that went nowhere. No cherry-picking, no quietly forgetting the duds, and no P&L claims: the recap grades the filter's output, never a trade, because we don't know your entries and wouldn't publish them if we did.
Clone the filter behind it
The board is one preset of the scanner engine. The template library shows the exact settings and the false positives each one admits.

The platformThe founding cohort is 1,000 seats.
We admit 1,000 traders at a time because that is the largest number whose feedback on radar accuracy we can actually work through before opening the next batch. Applications are admitted in order; the intake asks what you trade, and answering it moves you up.
No card at application. Founding price locked for the life of your account. The full intake asks what you trade and moves you up the queue.
Admitted in order of application · momentum traders who complete the intake go first · founding price locked for the life of your account
